<br />12/07/05188 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2005-119 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCil OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA SUPPORTING FEDERAL FUNDING OF <br />PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR <br />OF THE PUBLIC WORKS AGENCY TO SUBMIT THE <br />PROJECT FOR FUNDING UNDER THE HAZARD <br />ELIMINATION SAFETY PROGRAM <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCil OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOllOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines and <br />declares as follows: <br /> <br />A. The State of California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has been <br />authorized to select projects for funding through the Hazard Elimination Safety Program <br />(Program) for Federal fiscal year 2005/2006, to use federal transportation funds for <br />correction of roadside obstacles and unmarked or poorly marked roads, which may <br />constitute a danger to motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians; and <br /> <br />B. Caltrans makes grants available to local governmental agencies under the <br />Program based on the results of a statewide competition; and <br /> <br />C. Projects eligible for funding include traffic signals; and <br /> <br />D. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana possesses the legal authority to <br />nominate, finance, acquire, and construct projects that are eligible for funding under the <br />HES Program; and <br /> <br />E. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana supports efforts to eliminate roadway <br />hazards in the City of Santa Ana. <br /> <br />Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana authorizes the Executive <br />Director of the Public Works Agency or his designee to execute, in the name of the City of <br />Santa Ana, all necessary applications required to be submitted to Caltrans for the project <br />identified in Exhibit 1 for funding under California's Hazard Elimination Safety Program. <br /> <br />Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by <br />the City Council, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and certify the vote adopting this <br />Resolution. <br /> <br />ADOPTED this 19th day of December, 2005. <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2005-119 <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />
