MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />JANUARY 19, 1987 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 2:08 p.m., by Mayor Dan Young, in Room <br />423, City Hall, 20 Civic Center Plaza. Councilmembers present were John <br />Acosta, Ron May, Miguel A. Pulido and Mayor Young. Also present were <br />City Manager David N. Ream, City Attorney Edward J. Cooper and Clerk of <br />tne Council Janice C. Guy. <br /> <br />Councilmembers Daniel E. Griset and Wilson B. Hart joined the meeting at <br />7:30 p.m. and 8:03 p.m. respectively. Councilmember Patricia A. McGuigan <br />was absent. <br /> <br />COUNCIL STUDY SESSION <br /> <br />Santa Ana Housing Programs <br /> <br />Cindy Nelson, Executive Director of the Community Development Agency, <br />introduced a slide presentation, "Santa Ana- Call it Home," which <br />demonstrated the numerous programs the City has available for housing <br />assistance and improvements, including such programs as Single Family and <br />Multi-Family Residential and Rental Rehabilitation, Rental Assistance, <br />Senior-Shared Housing, Multi-Family Tax Exempt Bonds and Special Projects. <br /> <br />Business Outreach Program <br /> <br />Rob Richardson, Economic Development Specialist, reported to the Council <br />on the Community Development Agency's Business Outreach Program, <br />indicating the goals of the program complemented the Agency goals of <br />retaining and attracting investment and jobs, fostering a positive image <br />of Santa Ana, and communicating incentive programs designed to aid <br />business to the community. He indicated that during 1986, 350 of the <br />City's lO,O00 businesses had been visited personally through the Business <br />Retention Program, and that through the Program's economic research, a <br />commercial space summary had been developed. <br /> <br />Councilmembers discussed various aspects of the program, and Mayor Young <br />requested that the Council be provided with a summary of data currently <br />available to assist the Councilmembers when making presentations. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pulido requested information from staff concerning the <br />development of a closer working relationship between the City and the <br />downtown business community. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MZNUTE$ 18 <br /> <br />JANUARY 19, 1987 <br /> <br /> <br />
