ORAL COM)IUNICATIONS <br /> <br />Pastor John McReynolds, Black Ministerial Alliance, addressed Council <br />with respect to observance of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Holiday, <br />and requested that the Ministers Alliance be advised of City negotiations <br />with respect to making the Federal holiday, a holiday for City employees. <br /> <br />Ronald A. Lark-Wallace, 1205 N. Ross Street, #12, invited Councilmembers <br />to attend t~e upcoming Black History Parade. <br /> <br />Miles Leach, 2025 W. 10th Street, spoke with regard to the City's Street <br />Sweeping Program. <br /> <br />Roger Flores, 1406 N. Durant, #6, requested the Council pursue <br />anti-pornography efforts. <br /> <br />John Raya, 4618 W. Hollyline, addressed Council, expressing the need for <br />immediate action with regard to the illegal discharge of firearms on New <br />Year's Eve, and for a policy with respect to assimilation of residents <br />receiving amnesty under the recent Federal immigration law changes. <br /> <br />Florence Leach, 2025 W. 10th Street, addressed Council, expressing <br />concern that the City was promoting "segregation" with its emphasis on <br />neighborhoods as opposed to an "all City" perspective. <br /> <br />COUNCIL CO)~UNICATIONS <br /> <br />Councilmember Acosta requested staff to advise Mr. Raya of the next <br />Public Safety Committee meeting. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pulido indicated the Public Safety Committee meeting was <br />scheduled for February 3, 1987 at 3:00 p.m. on the 8th Floor of City Hall. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pulido also urged the public present and listening to <br />Channel 3 to provide additional input to the Council regarding General <br />Plan Amendment 86-8, and requested the City Manager to provide an update <br />on any additional commentary received in two weeks.
