THINK Together's afterschool programs in Santa Ana target students in grades 1 -12 who are at high risk of educational failure due to poverty, language barriers, and lack of academic assistance at home. The program provides academic intervention, especially in literacy and math, homework help, enrichment activities, and the opportunity to develop mentoring relationships with adult role models. The goal of the program is to help these students succeed in school so they will remain in school, graduate, and pursue higher education or training that helps them become self - sustaining, contributing members of the community. The afterschool program takes place each school day between 2:30 and 6:00 p.m. in a safe, supervised environment with an academic focus. Research has verified that the quality of an afterschool program is highly dependent on the skill and stability of the on -site program coordinator. Santa Ana CDBG funding will be used to support the Site Coordinators who oversee the afterschool programs at Heninger and Grant Elementary schools, Lathrop Intermediate, and Noah Teen Center. Ex, A
