90.A. PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br />Dr. Dorothy Davis, representing Pride Development, addressed Council <br />requesting assistance with funding for improvements of the playground <br />facilities at Pride Development. The Mayor referred Dr. Davis to staff <br />for assistance, and indicated a meeting on the subject had been scheduled <br />for October 22. <br /> <br />George Huffer, 1902 N. Greenbriar, addressed Council expressing concern <br />with the recent lack of evening Council meetings, and subsequent lack of <br />Council meetings on cable television. The Mayor explained that both a <br />lack of agenda items and the recent conflict of the October 5 Council <br />meeting with the League of California Cities Conference had caused the <br />interruption in broadcast of the Council meetings. <br /> <br />Councilmembers briefly discussed possibly rescheduling afternoon agenda <br />items to the evening for future meetings. <br /> <br />George Hanna, 2221 Victoria Dr., addressed Council expressing concern with <br />the amount of financial support provided by the City to the Greater Santa <br />Ana Chamber of Commerce. <br /> <br />Harry Greenberg, 300 E. Santa Ana Blvd., addressed Council posing a number <br />of questions regarding the recent expenditure of City funds for tickets to <br />a dinner dance sponsored by the Greater Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce, and <br />asked for a written response. <br /> <br />HOUSING AUTHORITY AND CLOSED SESSION <br /> <br />At 4:44 p.m., the Council recessed to the Housing Authority, reconvening <br />at 4:45 p.m., with the same Councilmembers present, and immediately <br />recessed to Closed Session in Room 147. <br /> <br />CLOSED SESSION <br /> <br />The Clerk of the Council announced that the City Council was recessing to <br />Closed Session pursuant to Government Code Section 54956.9(a) to confer <br />wi th the City Attorney regarding pending litigation which had been <br />initiated formally, and to which the City was a party, to wit, Arrevalos <br />vs. City of Santa Ana (Worker's Compensation) and litigation <br />identification of which would jeopardize the City's ability to conclude <br />existing settlement negotiations to its advantage; and pursuant to <br />Government Code Section 54956.9(c) to confer with City Attorney regarding <br />a possible decision to initiate litigation. <br /> <br />At 4:58 p.m., the Council reconvened with all Councilmembers present. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 296 OCTOBER 19, 1987 <br /> <br /> <br />
