AMENDMENT APPLICATION NO. 978 <br /> <br />Filed by Sterik Company to rezone property located at the southwest corner <br />of Grand Avenue and Twenty-first Street from the R1 (Single-Family <br />Residence) District to the C4 (Planned Shopping Center) District to <br />develop 13,800 square feet of retail shops and a 4,000 square foot <br />freestanding tenant building. <br /> <br />Recommended for denial by the Planning Commission on October 12, 1987, by <br />the following vote: <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Godinez, Spevacek, Sizemore, Chavez-Gomez <br />Casteix, Miller, Uno <br />None <br /> <br />Legal Notice published in the Register November 23, 1987, and mailed <br />November 20, 1987. <br /> <br />The Mayor opened the public hearing at 7:52 p.m. regarding Amendment <br />Application No. 978. <br /> <br />Presentation of Staff report, Planning Commission recommendation and staff <br />comments by Steve Jones, Associate Planner. <br /> <br />The Clerk of the Council reported no written communications. <br /> <br />The following persons spoke in opposition to Amendment Application No. 978: <br /> <br />D. B. Stamps, 2113 N. Hathaway <br />Tom Mulroney, 2122 N. Hathaway <br /> <br />Joseph Doino, 828 Moraga Dr., Bel Air, spoke in favor of Amendment No. 978. <br /> <br />The Mayor closed the public hearing at 8:10 p.m. <br /> <br />MOTION: l) Approve and file Negative Declaration and place the following <br /> ordinance on first reading and authorize publication of title: <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO.
