NO. 05-114) <br /> <br />APPROVED <br />o As Recommended <br />o As Amended <br />o Ordinance on 1 st Reading <br />o Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />o Implementing Resolution <br />o Set Public Hearing For~________ <br /> <br />TITLE: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />,.."" <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Award a contract to Maurice J, Sopp & Son for the purchase of a half- <br />ton hybrid truck in the amount of $25,062,65, <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Public Works Agency's Water Resources Division maintains over <br />15,000 water main and hydrant valves as well as 450 miles of sewer <br />lines, Water Maintenance supervisors require city vehicles for <br />transportation to various job sites throughout the city, The contract <br />will provide a vehicle for the supervisors to inspect job sites and <br />transport equipment such as sand bags, barricades and tools for <br />emergency use, <br /> <br />The notice inviting bids was advertised on November 4 and 7, 2005, and <br />bids were solicited after new specifications issued for a hybrid truck, <br />A summary of the bid invitations and bids received is as follows: <br /> <br />11 Invitations For Bid mailed <br />1 Invitation For Bid mailed to Santa Ana vendors <br />7 Bids received <br /> <br />Bids were received, opened on January 11, 2006, and evaluated (Exhibit <br />1), The bid received from Maurice J, Sopp & Son is responsive to the <br />specifications and meets the City'S requirements, The purchase conforms <br />with the criteria established for the acquisition of hybrid vehicles, <br /> <br />22F-1 <br />
