<br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br />A <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 6, 2006 <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />TITLE: <br /> <br />o As Recommended <br />o As Amended <br />o Ordinance on 1" Reading <br />o Ordinance on 2"" Reading <br />o Implementing Resolution <br />o Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />AGREEMENT FOR POLICE <br />CONSULTING SERVICES <br /> <br />Vfltz. <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />--- <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and the <br />Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with George Saadeh to provide <br />consulting services for a one-year period in an amount not to exceed <br />$50,000. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Police Department recommends entering into an agreement with George <br />Saadeh to provide consulting services on all aspects of Homeland Security <br />grants, policies, practices, procedures, and operational issues relating <br />to the Urban Areas Security Initiative funding program (UASI). Mr. Saadeh <br />has recently retired from the Santa Ana Police Department, where he was <br />responsible for developing and administering the UASI Program. His unique <br />knowledge and experience in this area is critical to transition from the <br />current UASI funding model to the recently approved program model, which <br />requires intense coordination with countywide UASI members. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br /> <br />Funds are available in the Police Department's FY 2005 UASI Grant Other <br />Contractual Services account (account no. 125-333-6291). <br /> <br />APPROVED AS TO FUNDS AND ACCOUNTS: <br /> <br />\ <br />I <br /> <br />~ ~~ll. \.J..- <br /> <br />Paul M.
