NO. 02-135) <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 1st Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Renew the contract with Environmental Recovery Services, Inc. for <br />hazardous waste disposal services for a one-year period in the annual <br />amount not to exceed $40,000. <br />DISCUSSION <br />During operations where materials such as paint, fuel, and solvents are <br />used, hazardous waste material is generated. The waste materials are <br />then processed through Central Stores for pick up at the Corporate Yard. <br />Compliance with Environmental Protection Agency regulations require that <br />an authorized hazardous waste disposal service be used to transport the <br />hazardous materials to a lawfully authorized disposal, treatment, or <br />storage facility within 90 days. <br />On December 2, 2002, the City Council awarded a contract to Environmental <br />Recovery Services, Inc. for a two-year period with provision for two one- <br />year renewals. The vendor has performed satisfactorily during the past <br />contract period and has agreed to renew the contract without an increase in <br />pricing.
