Sopp & Son for the purchase of a half- <br />ton hybrid truck in the amount of $25,062.65. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Public Works Agency's Water Resources Division maintains over <br />15,000 water main and hydrant valves as well as 450 miles of sewer <br />lines. Water Maintenance supervisors require city vehicles for <br />transportation to various job sites throughout the city. The contract <br />will provide a vehicle for the supervisors to inspect job sites and <br />transport equipment such as sand bags, barricades and tools for <br />emergency use. <br />The notice inviting bids was advertised on November 4 and 7, 2005, and <br />bids were solicited after new specifications issued for a hybrid truck. <br />A summary of the bid invitations and bids received is as follows: <br />11 Invitations For Bid mailed <br />1 Invitation For Bid mailed to Santa Ana vendors <br />7 Bids received <br />Bids were received, opened on January 11, 2006, and evaluated (Exhibit <br />1) . The bid received from Maurice J. Sopp & Son is responsive to the <br />specifications and meets the City's requirements. The purchase conforms <br />with the criteria established for the acquisition of hybrid vehicles. <br />22F-1 <br />
