MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />MAY 2, 1988 <br /> <br />At 2:05 p.m., the Senior Deputy Clerk of the Council called the regular <br />meeting of the Santa Ana City Council to order in Room 423, City Hall, <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana. Since there were no Councilmembers <br />present to respond to the call. of the roll, the Senior Deputy declared the <br />meeting adjourned to 3:00 p.m. in Room 423. <br /> <br />At 3:13 p.m., Mayor Dan Young called the Council meeting to order in Room <br />423. Councilmembers present were John Acosta, Wilson B. Hart, Ron May, <br />Patricia A. McGuigan, and Mayor Young. Also present were City Manager <br />David N. Ream, City Attorney Edward J. Cooper and Clerk of the Council <br />Janice C. Guy. <br /> <br />Councilmembers Daniel E. Griset and Miguel A. Pulido joined the meeting at <br />3:21 p.m. and 3:32 p.m., respectively. <br /> <br />COUNCIL STUDY SESSION <br /> <br />EDDIE WEST STADIUM BLUE RIBBON COMMITTEE REPORT <br /> <br />Cindy Nelson, Executive Director, Community Development Agency, provided <br />the Council with a brief overview of the Blue Ribbon Committee's mission, <br />explaining its goal was to identify and prioritize improvements as well as <br />explore alternative uses for Eddie West Stadium. Following a video <br />presentation depicting current conditions at the Stadium, Roger Wilson, <br />Chairman of the Committee, introduced the committee members present; <br />reviewed the Committee's recommendations with respect to physical <br />improvements, a marketing program, and continued oversight of the Stadium; <br />and responded to Councilmembers' questions. <br /> <br />Nelson explained that approximately $3,000,000.00 would be needed to make <br />all the capital improvements recommended by the Committee, and that staff <br />was exploring the possible use of funds previously allocated to the Santa <br />Ana Unified School District, for this purpose, as the District repaid <br />monies to the City. <br /> <br />Councilmembers discussed the concern raised by several Committee members <br />regarding constraints placed upon the Committee to consider only the <br />Stadium proper, and not the proposed adjacent parking structure. The <br />Mayor requested that staff contact the Orange County Board of Supervisors <br />concerning the inter-relationship between the parking structure and the <br />Stadium, and requested the item be placed on the next Council Study <br />Session agenda for further discussion. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> <br />130 MAY 2, 1988 <br /> <br /> <br />
