MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />AUGUST 15, 1988 <br /> <br />At 2:05 p.m., the Assistant Clerk of the Council called the regular <br />meeting of the Santa Aha City Council to order in Room 423, City Hall, <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Aha. Since there were no Councilmembers <br />present to respond to the call of the roll, the Assistant Clerk declared <br />the meeting adjourned to 4:00 p.m. in Room 423. <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 4:ll p.m. in Room 423 by Mayor Dan <br />Young. Councilmembers present were John Acosta, Ron May, Patricia A. <br />McGuigan, and Mayor Young. Also present were City Manager David N. Ream, <br />City Attorney Edward J. Cooper and Clerk of the Council Janice C. Guy. <br /> <br />Councilmembers Wilson B. Hart and Daniel E. Griset joined the meeting at <br />4:18 p.m. and 4:26 p.m. respectively. Councilmember Miguel A. Pulido <br />joined the meeting at the Evening Session. <br /> <br />COUNCIL STUDY SESSION <br /> <br />SANTIAGO PARK LAWN BOWLING CLUBHOUSE (AGENDA ITEM lg.B.) <br /> <br />Allen Doby, Executive Director, Recreation & Community Services Agency, <br />explained the Lawn Bowling Clubhouse had been used since 1954, and that <br />currently t~e facility was in such poor condition that the number of <br />occupants at any one time had to be restricted. <br /> <br />Ron Yeo, design architect, presented the conceptual plans and a model of <br />the proposed new clubhouse, indicating he had taken into consideration <br />preservation of the trees on the property and lO0-year flood control <br />impacts. <br /> <br />In response to the Mayor's question, Mr. Yeo indicated that the new <br />facility should be ready for use in the Summer of 1989. <br /> <br />Councilmember Acosta complimented the architect on his plans. <br /> <br />CONSENT CALENDAR REVIEW <br /> <br />Councilmembers discussed concerns with respect to Consent Calendar Items. <br /> <br />Councilme~mer Acosta indicated he would be registering a "NO" vote on Item <br />3.C. due to the fact t~at only one firm responded to the request for bids. <br /> <br />Councilmember Griset reported that he had provided an additional <br />application to the Clerk to be considered for nomination as the Ward 6 <br />representative to the Human Relations Commission.
