"0' , <br />CLEl~LJly11 C?QQp <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting was convened at 6:05 p.m. in City Hall, 20 Civic Center Plaza, 8th <br />Floor, Room 831, Santa Ana, California. <br /> <br />ATTENDANCE <br />Councilmembers present: Alberta Christy, Claudia Alvarez and Carlos <br />Bustamante. <br /> <br />Staff present: Assistant City Attorney Paula Coleman, Police Chief Paul Walters, <br />Fire Chief Phil Garcia, Fire Marshal Lori Smith, Deputy City Attorney Mike <br />Vigliotta, and Sg1. Lorenzo Carrillo. <br /> <br />Public present: Evangeline Gawronski, President of Comlink <br /> <br />SUMMARY OF DISCUSSIONS <br /> <br />1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />Approved Minutes of the May 9, 2005 meeting. <br /> <br />2. PROPOSED FIREWORKS ORDINANCE <br /> <br />After discussion, the Committee recommended that the Ordinance be <br />modified to include the 80 percent residency requirement and forward to <br />the City Council for review. <br /> <br />3. FIRE AND POLICE DEPARTMENTS JULY 4TH UPDATE <br /> <br />Fire Marshal Smith and Sg1. Carrillo reviewed the Enforcement and <br />Educational Campaigns that were employed on July 4th. The Committee <br />suggested that the City work with the other five cities that allow fireworks <br />regarding penalty phases to coordinate penalties for violations of the <br />Fireworks Ordinance. It was also suggested that a meeting be held with <br />Costa Mesa and Garden Grove Fire Chiefs and Police Chiefs to soliCit <br />their participation in enforcement efforts. <br /> <br />138-1 <br />
