90.Co CITY COUNCIL CO)~4ENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember Griset commended the Wilshire Square Neighborhood on its <br />recent house tour and neighborhood self-improvements. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Acosta inquired as to the status of the lunch truck <br />ordinance; the City Manager indicated he would investigate and respond. <br /> <br />In response to Mayor Pro Tem Acosta's question as to what means the City <br />had relative to exterior property maintenance regulation, the Executive <br />Director of Planning and Building Agency indicated that owners of <br />multi-family units could be cited for sub-standard maintenance. <br /> <br />Councilmember Norton urged the institution of a City-wide nepotism policy, <br />noting in particular the potential for problems created by supervision of <br />Police executive management staff by a spouse in the City Manager's <br />office. Norton also expressed concern regarding the increasing incidence <br />of violence in the City's parks and requested information relative to the <br />issuance of firearms to Park Rangers. The Mayor indicated issuance of <br />firearms to Park Rangers would require a policy decision by the City <br />Council. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pulido requested an opinion from the City Attorney in <br />writing regarding the hiring of Legislative Aides by Councilmembers, and <br />also reiterated Councilmember Griset's comments regarding Wilshire Square <br />neighbors. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGuigan encouraged the community to participate in the <br />upcoming Flag Day celebration. <br /> <br />Mayor Young requested staff to organize round-table discussions regarding <br />solutions to vagrancy-and-drug-abuser-created problems, involving those <br />persons who spoke concerning the subject at the Council meeting and <br />appropriate staff. <br /> <br />RECESSED TO CLOSED SESSION - ROOM 147 - 10:02 P.M. <br /> <br />The Clerk of the Council announced the City Council was recessing to <br />Closed Session pursuant to Government Code Section 54956.9(a) to confer <br />with the City Attorney regarding pending litigation which had been <br />initiated formally, and to which the City was a party, to wit: <br /> <br />Soto vs. City of Santa Ana (Worker's Compensation) <br />Reid vs. City of Santa Ana (Worker's Compensation) <br />Melin vs. City of Santa Ana <br />Cullings vs. City of Santa Aha (Worker's Compensation) <br />King vs. City of Santa Ana (Worker's Compensation) <br /> <br />pursuant to Government Code Section 54956.9(b)(1) regarding pending <br />litigation of significant exposure; and pursuant to Government Code <br />Section 54957 to consider personnel matters. <br /> <br />RECONVENED - 10:27 P.M. - All Councilmembers present. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 158 JUNE 5, 1989 <br /> <br /> <br />
