Councilmember May indicated that a new Cable Television Advisory Board <br />would be established to represent the interest of Santa Ana residents <br />relative to cable television services. <br /> <br />Councilmember Norton noted a need to amend the Santa Aha Municipal Code <br />terminology with respect to the definition of a swap meet. He requested <br />information from staff regarding the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans <br />for the Santiago Creek Bed. He also requested status reports regarding <br />the Charter Review Committee and the City's nepotism policy. The City <br />Manager indicated the Charter Review Committee would get underway when the <br />majority of appointments had been made by the Councilmembers. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pulido reaffirmed the correctness of the Council's decisions <br />regarding the June 19 agenda items. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGuigan requested staff repair the potholes on MacFadden <br />west of Euclid and also between Harbor and Euclid Boulevards. She also <br />expressed appreciation to the Santa Aha Elks for their generous donation <br />of the horse trailer to the City. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Acosta urged the Councilmembers to appoint Charter Review <br />Committee Members from their respective wards, and requested input from <br />the Councilmembers with respect to establishing a policy of ward <br />representation for Board and Commission appointments. He also urged the <br />language be changed relative to the definition of swap meet in the <br />Municipal Code. <br /> <br />In response to Mayor Pro Tem Acosta's question regarding purchase of a <br />narcotic detection dog, the City Manager indicated that one of the City's <br />current canine units would be trained for such purposes. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Acosta and Councilmember Norton clarified for the City <br />Manager that the motion acted upon by the City Council on June 5, 1989 <br />provided for the purchase of an additional dog for drug enforcement. The <br />City Manager responded that he and the Police Chief would prepare a report <br />specifying all costs associated with such a purchase. <br /> <br />RECESSED TO CLOSED SESSION - 12:lO P.M. <br /> <br />The Clerk of the Council announced the Council was recessing to Closed <br />Session pursuant to Government Code Section 54956.9(a) to confer with the <br />City Attorney regarding pending litigation which had been initiated <br />formally, and to which the City was a party, to wit, <br /> <br />Barnette vs. City of Santa Ana {Worker's Compensation) <br /> <br />RECONVENED - 12:16 P.M. - All Councilmembers present except Mayor Young. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 180 JUNE 19, 1989 <br /> <br /> <br />
