MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />SEPTEMBER 5, 1989 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 4:15 p.m. in Room 423, City Hall, <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, by Mayor Pro Tem John Acosta. Councilmembers <br />present were Ron May, Patricia A. McGuigan, Rick Norton, and Miguel A. <br />Pulido. Also present were City Manager David N. Ream, City Attorney <br />Edward J. Cooper and Clerk of the Council Janice C. Guy. <br /> <br />Councilmember Daniel E. Griset joined the meeting at 4:28 p.m. <br /> <br />Mayor Dan Young was absent. <br /> <br />COUNCIL STUDY SESSION <br /> <br />CITY HALL EXPANSION PROJECT {12A) <br /> <br />Cindy Nelson, Executive Director, Community Development Agency, reported <br />to Council that since 1985 several City agencies had relocated their <br />operations from City Hall to rented facilities in the downtown area to <br />relieve crowding in the City Hall building. She indicated that since that <br />time staff had investigated several possibilities with the intent of <br />reconsolidating City operations on one site, but that to date none had <br />come to fruition. <br /> <br />Nelson indicated that currently staff was requesting that Council <br />authorize the issuance of a request for qualifications for an <br />approximately 150,000 square foot expansion to City Hall to be located on <br />the site of the Police Annex Building, with lease terms, performance <br />schedule, scope of development and related issues to be negotiated with <br />the developer selected to construct the project.
