MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR AND REGULAR COUNCIL MEETINGS <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />SEPTEMBER 18, 1989 <br /> <br />The adjourned regular meeting was called to order at 2:07 p.m. by Mayor <br />Dan Young in Room 831, City Hall, 20 Civic Center Plaza. Councilmembers <br />present were John Acosta, Ron May, Patricia A. McGuigan, Rick Norton, and <br />Miguel A. Pulido. Also present was the Clerk of the Council Janice C. Guy. <br /> <br />City Manager David N. Ream and City Attorney Edward J. Cooper joined the <br />meeting at 4:18 p.m. <br /> <br />Councilmember Daniel E. Griset joined the meeting at 7:32 p.m. <br /> <br />CLOSED SESSION - ROOM 831 <br /> <br />The City Council immediately recessed to Closed Session pursuant to <br />Government Code Section 54957 to consider personnel matters. <br /> <br />ADJOURNED - 3:59 P.M. <br /> <br />CONVENED REGULAR MEETING - ROOM 147 - 4:18 P.M. - All Councilmembers <br />present except Councilmember Griset. <br /> <br />COUNCIL STUDY SESSION <br /> <br />GANG DIVERSION PROGRAMS (GRISET) <br /> <br />Allen E. Doby, Executive Director, Recreation and Community Services <br />Agency, briefly reviewed DARE and PRIDE, Gang Diversion Programs <br />administered by his agency in conjunction with the Santa Ana Unified <br />School District at school and park sites throughout the City. He <br />indicated the majority of the programming effort was focused on children <br />and youth in the central portions of the City, but that next year the <br />effort would be expanded to four additional schools. Mr. Doby also <br />responded to Councilmembers' questions. <br /> <br />CONSENT CALENDAR REVIEW <br /> <br />Councilmembers discussed concerns with respect to Consent Calendar items. <br /> <br />The Mayor requested that staff prepare a strategy with respect to <br />launching a volunteer effort involving both the Community Oriented <br />Policing and neighborhood organizations to assist with the removal of <br />graffiti. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 265 SEPTEMBER 18, 1989 <br /> <br /> <br />
