NO.06-024) <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />o As Recommended <br />o As Amended <br />o Ordinance on 151 Reading <br />o Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />o Implementing Resolution <br />o Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />12A7a~ <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Award a contract to Quality Chevrolet for the purchase of one four-door <br />utility vehicle in the amount of $40,817.98. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Fleet Maintenance Division's annual Equipment Replacement Program is <br />included in the City's annual budget and identifies vehicles scheduled for <br />replacement. Funding is monitored through a depreciation schedule <br />established with each department. Additionally, the Fleet Division reviews <br />the acquisition in accordance with the City's Hybrid and Alternative Fuel <br />Vehicle Acquisition Policy. Currently, hybrid vehicles are not <br />manufactured in the full-size utility vehicle category. <br /> <br />The Fire Department is responsible for providing emergency medical and fire <br />fighting operations on a 24/7 schedule. Utility vehicles equipped with <br />computers, maps, radios, and battery chargers are provided for the <br />Battalion Chiefs to direct fire operations. Due to a collision rendering <br />it inoperable, a 1994 Chevrolet Suburban utility vehicle has been approved <br />for replacement in the current fiscal year. <br /> <br />The notice inviting bids was advertised on February 3 and 6, 2006, and bids <br />were solicited. A summary of the bid invitations and bids received is as <br />follows: <br /> <br />11 Invitations For Bid mailed <br />3 Bids received <br /> <br />Bids were received, opened on February 15, 2006, and evaluated (Exhibit 1). <br />The bid received from Quality Chevrolet lS responsive to the specifications <br />and meets the City's requirements. <br /> <br />22E-1 <br />
