<br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br />~ <br />~ <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />MARCH 6, 2006 <br /> <br />TITLE: <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />CONTRACT AMENDMENT WITH <br />TEMPLO CALVARIO CDC FOR PRE- <br />EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS AND <br />NETWORKING <br /> <br />o As Recommended <br />o As Amended <br />o Ordinance on 151 Reading <br />o Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />o Implementing Resolution <br />o Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />A <br /> <br />fJ~~R <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />the Clerk of the Council to execute a contract amendment with Templo <br />Calvario CDC to increase the amount of the current agreement by $122,500 <br />not to exceed $350,000. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />In June 2005, the City of Santa Ana W/O/R/K Center received a $500,000 <br />grant from the Department of Labor Faith-based ini tiati ve to work with <br />Fai th-Based Organizations for the provision of employment and training <br />services to Santa Ana residents. This grant requires that at least <br />seventy percent of the grant or $350,000 will be sub-contracted to <br />Faith-Based Organizations in the community. As a result, the W/O/R/K <br />Center issued Phase I of the Request for Proposals (RFP) in August of <br />2005, and subsequently, recommended awarding a contract to Templo <br />Calvario. <br /> <br />On October 17, 2005, the Santa Ana City Council approved the initial <br />contract of $227,500 to Templo Calvario to serve 130 individuals within <br />a designated census area(s) that has high poverty rates and a hard-to- <br />serve population. <br /> <br />As directed by the Department of Labor, Phase II of the RFP was issued <br />to broaden the Faith-Based Organizations' participation in the <br />implementation of this grant. However, no responses were received to <br />the Phase II RFP.
