�l Limited Phase 11 Environmental Site Assessment <br />8 -Acre Property, Fairhaven Memorial, Santa Ana, California <br />�* GEOLOGIC AND HYDROGEOLOGIC SETTING <br />(( Topography <br />1, <br />The current USGS topographic map (Orange Quadrangle 1981) indicates that the site is situated <br />at an elevation of about 190 feet above mean sea level with topography sloping slightly to the <br />southwest. <br />Site GeolM <br />According to the Geologic Map of Orange County (Miller, 1981), the site is underlain by <br />alluvium and colluvium. The USDA soil survey for this area (Soil Survey, Orange County and <br />l Western Riverside County, 1978) indicates that the soil types present in the site vicinity are <br />primarily San Emigdio series soils. San Emigdio series consists of well -drained soils on flood <br />plains and alluvial fans that formed in mixed alluvium. <br />r, Regional Groundwater Occurrence and Quality <br />According to the Orange County Water District Groundwater Contour Map (November 1994), <br />groundwater in the vicinity of the site is approximately 50 feet above mean sea level. This <br />corresponds to a depth of 140 feet below grade. A review of the State of California Geotracker <br />website shows depth to water in this area to be approximately 110 feet below grade. <br />IhmmWeJ CK11M <br />HAND AUGER SAMPLING <br />Eight hand auger borings were advanced at the locations shown in Figure 2. The borings were <br />advanced to a maximum depth of 3 feet below grade. Five soil samples were collected from each <br />boring at depths of 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2 and 3 feet below grade. A total of 40 soil samples were <br />collected during this assessment. <br />The borings were advanced using a 4 -inch diameter, stainless-steel hand auger. At the <br />designated sampling depth, a soil sample was collected directly from the hand auger and put into <br />a4 ounce glass jar. Samples were labeled and stored in a cooler with blue ice pending delivery <br />to the analytical laboratory. The borings were backfilled with the cuttings. The sampling <br />equipment was decontaminated between uses by washing with a non -phosphate solution <br />followed by a potable water rinse. <br />LABORATORY ANALYSIS <br />The soil samples were transported to American Scientific Laboratories of Los Angeles, <br />California under chain -of -custody documentation. Initially, 16 soil samples (from depths of 0.5 <br />and 1 foot below grade) were tested for chlorinated pesticides by EPA Method 8081A and for <br />Title 22 metals by EPA method 6010B and 7471A.
