NO.06-034) <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />01120101ZIX <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 1" Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />I MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Award a contract to Target Specialty Products for the purchase of a tree <br />sprayer in the amount of $45,039.33. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Public Works Agency's Tree Maintenance Division is responsible for <br />maintaining approximately 55,500 trees. The division trims an average of <br />13,000 trees and removes 150 trees annually. Additionally, the division has <br />established a practice of spraying approximately 9,000 trees annually to <br />control aphid infestation. Due to age and condition, a 1989 mist sprayer <br />has been approved for replacement in the current fiscal year. <br />The Public Works Agency contacted several major mist sprayer suppliers and <br />confirmed this type is no longer produced by American manufacturers. Unico <br />Spray Products Corporation is the only remaining manufacturer of sprayers <br />that meet the specifications established by the Public Works Agency.
