Figure 2: WIA Program Elements that La Familia's FUERZAS UNIDAS will Offer <br />substance abuse counseling; anger management counseling; domestic violence counseling; parenting <br />counseling; life work counseling; occupational counseling, and, as required, mental health andlor other <br />general counseling. Every activity offered will be focused upon the development of work readiness skills. <br />A primary service that will be offered is the identification of employers who will participate in this program. <br />A full-time Job Developer will offer these services. <br />i a~irlitinn rn tha ahnvP-mentioned WIA Program Elements, La Familia's <br />FUERZAS Uwoas will provide referrals to other Youth Network Providers and One- <br />Stops for Job Training and Post-Secondary Schooling. A critical service that will <br />be provided is that of bringing the youth into a relationship with the short-term job <br />training programs and apprenticeships available through One-Stops, including <br />vocational training programs. These referrals will serve to provide the youth with <br />WIA Elements 2) Alternative Secondary School Services; 3) Summer Employment <br />Opportunities; 4) Paid and Unpaid Work Experiences; and 5) Occupational Skills Training. <br />In this manner, all of the WIA Program Elements will be covered by the FUERZAS <br />UNIDAS Program. <br />How Services will be Deemed Necessary -While alt youth will participate in <br />the core services offered given the intensity of need among this population, <br />services will be customized to meet the unique needs of each youth. In order to <br />address individual needs, an intensive screening and assessment will take place. <br />The tools listed in Figure 3 below will be used. <br />Figure 3: Assessment Processes <br />• Screening for Substance Use and General Functioning will performed through the: <br />Youth Addiction Severity Index (ASI) <br />l Adult Addiction Severity Index (ASI) <br />• Screening for Literacy antl Math Skills will be performed through periodic use of the'. <br />TABE Instrument <br />• Occupational Interest Screening will be performed through the <br />Career Exploration Inventory <br />• Occupational Skills Screening will be performed through: <br />Skillcheck <br />• Mental Health Screenin will be erformed b referral b ~ Mental Health Professionals <br />How Recruitment is Coordinated with Program Activities - AS mentioned, <br />an intensive program of recruitment will take place. CHCADA will engage in <br />extensive recruitment activities. Currently, outreach services are conducted <br />through three strategic approaches: 1) Our contracts with local institutions <br />including Social Services, juvenile courts, probation departments, church youth <br />groups, and family preservation projects serve as a primary source of youth <br />clients; 2) We utilize trained youth outreach workers to introduce the services to <br />13 <br />
