CO)~ENTS <br /> <br />90.A. PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br />John Casteix, 2111N. Flower, expressed outrage that the Orange CountS <br />Register was sponsoring a graffiti contest and requested the Council take <br />action to discourage this activity. Mayor Young requested the City <br />Manager to send an appropriate mailing in protest to community <br />organizations and residents, as well as the Register informing them of the <br />Council's concern regarding the negative impact on the community of such a <br />contest. <br /> <br />John Raya, 4618 W. Hollyline, addressed several public safety concerns and <br />encouraged the Council to support State legislation which would allow the <br />use of Community Redevelopment Agency funds for anti-gang, anti-drug and <br />other public safety purposes. <br /> <br />Karol Van Zant, 1518 N. Freeman, noted that staff had not followed through <br />wi th the recommendations of a previous citizens comnittee (COBRA) <br />regarding neighborhood improvements and hoped the Mayor's Task Force on <br />Policing would be more successful. <br /> <br />90.C. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember Norton offered to provide to the listening audience an <br />article which had appeared in the League of California Cities Bulletin <br />regarding the establishment of a police benefit assessment district in the <br />City of Inglewood. <br /> <br />Norton expressed his support for a campaign to oppose Measure "A" <br />sponsored by Councilmember Griset. <br /> <br />85.A.
