CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember Norton <br /> <br />urged Councilmembers to focus on the augmentation of Public Safety <br />staffing in the FY 90-91 City Budget; <br /> <br />reviewed the intent of the Charter language in Section ll07 with the <br />City Attorney and expressed frustration with what seemed to be <br />inconsistencies in the opinions rendered on this matter. <br />Councilmember Norton asked Mr. Cooper to review the tape of the last <br />Council meeting to refresh his memory as to the statements he made <br />~and provide him with explanation of the Attorney's comment on that <br />tape; <br /> <br />inquired of Allen Doby, Executive Director of Recreation and <br />Community Services, as to the initial cable broadcasts of the <br />Planning Commission and Redevelopment Meetings; <br /> <br />asked staff about the proposed schedule for the adoption of the FY <br />90-91 City Budget; <br /> <br />and asked the City Manager if he had made the 4/10 Plan a priority <br />item in the FY 90-gl City Budget. The City Manager indicated the <br />4/10 Plan was listed as a priority item in the Budget Message <br />preceding the actual budget. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pulido <br /> <br />urged people to get out and vote NO on Proposition A on the June 5 <br />ballot. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGuigan <br /> <br />noted that Comcast does not recognize the City's Channel 3 KCTY call <br />letters, and urged staff and the Cable Board to raise this issue of <br />recognition with Comcast; <br /> <br />and announced the next meeting of the Charter Review Committee at <br />6:30 p.m., May 24, 1990 at Willard School, and encouraged all <br />citizens to attend and offer their input. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Acosta <br /> <br />expressed concern with cutbacks of radar patrols in various <br />neighborhoods. He requested an update on the deployment of all <br />units in the City; <br /> <br />radar <br /> <br />requested staff to contact Mr. Moore of St. Ann's Church who is <br />having difficulty with the City in his efforts to put on a Memorial <br />Day event; <br /> <br />requested staff to provide him a report on the number of motor <br />officers on duty on a daily basis; <br /> <br />and asked staff to work with the City's two senior centers to develop <br />a special award recognizing a City "Senior of the Year." <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 156 MAY 21, 1990 <br /> <br /> <br />
