The Santa Ana Police Department <br />requires ten X26 Taser electronic control devices to replace, <br />supplement, and upgrade the department's current inventory of M26 Taser <br />electronic devices. The M26 Tasers purchased in 2001 are obsolete and <br />due for replacement. The current, new model X26 Taser electronic <br />device is smaller, lighter, and more effective. Ammunition and <br />accessories for the X26 Taser are also required. <br /> <br />The purchase of the X26 Taser electronic control devices, ammunition, <br />and accessories, when added to the vendor's fiscal purchases will <br />exceed the $10,000 aggregate total, and requires Council approval. <br />Participating police agencies utilize the ProForce Law Enforcement <br />Taser standard. ProForce Law Enforcement is the sole source <br />distributor for the X26 Taser electronic control devices, ammunition, <br />and accessories for California and recommends Council approval of an <br />amendment to the contract. <br /> <br />220-1 <br /> <br />cs J8J <br /> <br />- <br />
