NO. 06-027) <br /> <br />APPROVED <br />o As Recommended <br />o As Amended <br />o Ordinance on 1 st Reading <br />o Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />o Implementing Resolution <br />o Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />Ma <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Award a contract to Bakersfield Well and Pump Co. for the purchase and <br />installation of motors at the Garthe Pumping Station in the amount of <br />$30,052. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Public Works Agency's Water Resources Division is upgrading the <br />motor control center at the Garthe Pumping Station. The upgrade will <br />include the installation of variable speed motor drives. The existing <br />pump motors operate with low efficiency and are not compatible with a <br />variable speed motor drive. The motors will be replaced with 96.4 <br />percent efficient motors that are compatible with a variable speed <br />motor drive. Once the upgrade at the Garthe Pumping Station is <br />complete, the pumps will start more smoothly, use less energy, and the <br />pressure surging into the water lines will be reduced. <br /> <br />The notice inviting bids <br />and bids were solicited. <br />received is as follows: <br /> <br />was advertised on February 13 and 15, 2006, <br />A summary of the bid invitations and bids <br /> <br />15 Invitations For Bid mailed <br />1 Invitation For Bid mailed to a Santa Ana vendor <br />3 Bids received <br /> <br />Bids were received, opened on February 28, 2006, and evaluated (Exhibit <br />1).
