An officer's laptop can <br />send and receive calls for service, messages, and emergency radio traffic. <br />A radio modem and a radio network controller are two pieces of required <br />equipment that allow an officer's laptop to communicate with the police <br />dispatch center. Motorola, Inc. was selected as the department's vendor <br />for vehicle radio modems and the radio network controller. Motorola modems <br />are proprietary and can only be serviced by Motorola, Inc.
