CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />PARK DEVELOPMENT, RECREATION PROGRAMS <br />& EDUCATION PARTNERSHIPS <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE <br />November 29, 2005 <br />A~IINUTES <br />The meeting was convened at 6:07 p.m. in the City Hall, Room 831. <br />The following Council Members were present: Claudia Alvarez (arrived 6:45 pm) <br />Mike Garcia (left 6:SOpm) <br />Jose Solorio <br />Staff present were: Gerardo Mouet, Exec. Director PRCSA <br />Ron Ono, Park Administrative Services Manager, PRCSA <br />Mike Lopez, Park Superintendent <br />1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />ACTION ITEM: Minutes of September 20, 2005 were approved with the following <br />correction. <br />a) Correct spelling of Wildlands as one word. . <br />2. SANTA ANA STADIUM REPORT <br />RENTAL FEE COMPARISON <br />o Staff reported on the stadium rental fee comparison of 9 stadiums some of <br />which are located in Los Angeles and Orange County. The fees charge at the <br />SA Stadium ranked 4th among the 9 stadiums with Anaheim Glover Stadium, <br />Orange Coast College Lebard Stadium in Costa Mesa, and Long Beach <br />Stadium charging below the fees at Santa Ana Stadium. <br />Staff indicated when the new synthetic turf is installed at the stadium the <br />program use of the stadium will be limited, unless a protective surfacing is <br />installed. The estimated cost for the protective surfacing is approximately <br />$800,000 to cover synthetic turf. Staff indicated a minimum of $200,000 will <br />be needed to cover 25 percent of the stadium field. This type of product is <br />being used at the Anaheim Stadium for concert events to protect their natural <br />turf field. <br />• RESIDENT FEE <br />o The field reservation fee schedule for Adult Soccer, only identifies one set of <br />fee based on a 2- hour block of time for non-lighted fields, and a different fee <br />for lighted fields.
