Amend the contract with Hardy and Harper, Inc. for asphalt street <br />maintenance by $330,000 for a total not to exceed $656,910. <br />2. Amend the contract with Hardy and Harper, Inc. for asphalt <br />pothole repairs and sidewalk maintenance by $200,000 for a total <br />not to exceed $525,000. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Public Works Agency's Maintenance Services Division is responsible <br />for maintaining the street and sidewalks of Santa Ana. In order to do <br />so, contracts for annual asphalt street maintenance, pothole repair and <br />sidewalk maintenance are required. <br />Services provided under the asphalt street maintenance contract include <br />the excavation and cold milling of existing roadways, the installation <br />of pavement reinforcement fabric, construction of asphalt concrete <br />pavement, and crack sealing. Services provided under the pothole <br />repair and sidewalk maintenance contract include the repair of all <br />potholes a minimum of six inches wide and one inch deep, and the repair <br />of damaged pavement areas not exceeding 25 sq. ft. in diameter and two <br />inches in depth with an asphalt overlay. Sidewalk maintenance provided <br />includes sidewalk ramping and sidewalk offset grinding, which are used <br />to reduce risks to pedestrian traffic. <br />In addition, the asphalt street maintenance contract provides for <br />repair of pavement affected by water system maintenance. This includes <br />the repair of water and sewer line trenches and the adjustment of <br />manhole and water valve covers to the new street surface level. <br />22A-1 <br />3~ <br />
