MOTION: <br /> <br />Direct staff to work with the Transportation Advisory Committee <br />and neighborhood leaders from Washington Square to develop <br />additional traffic mitigation measures for consideration at a <br />Council Study Session in 45 days; and to leave existing traffic <br />diverters in place. <br /> <br />MOTION: Pulido SECOND: Griset <br /> <br />VOTE: <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Griset, McGuigan, Pulido, Richardson, Young <br />Acosta, Norton <br />None FILE 1000 <br /> <br />Councilmember Acosta indicated he would have supported the measure had <br />removal of the traffic diverters been included in the motion. <br /> <br />CO~ENTS <br /> <br />90. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />In response to Councilmember Norton's question, the Police Chief indicated <br />that background checks for Park Rangers were currently in process and that <br />the Park Rangers should be armed by January 31, 1991. <br /> <br />11:15 P.M. - Councilmember Norton left the meeting. <br /> <br />In response to Counctlmember Acosta's query regarding the status of the <br />crossing light in front of the Courthouse, staff indicated the signal <br />installation plans had been returned to the County with the City's <br />comments and that the signal should be installed approximately 2-3 months <br />after return of the final plans by the County to the City. The City <br />Manager indicated the City would be both purchasing and installing the <br />signal. <br /> <br />Councilmember Acosta requested the Clerk of the Council research the <br />Minutes to clarify City and County responsibilities with respect to signal <br />installation. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGuigan requested staff investigate possible removal of <br />parking on north First Street between Susan Street and the Santa Aha River <br />bed to improve street sweeping operations. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Pulido requested that state-of-the-art technology to <br />discourage speeding be placed on the next Public Safety Committee agenda <br />for discussion. <br /> <br />Councilmember Griset urged the City Manager to include improvement of the <br />Bristol/Civic Center intersection in the next fiscal year budget. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT - ll:lg P.M. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> <br />~T/dn~ce C.
