<br />.... <br /> <br />SANTA ANA CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE <br />PUBLIC SAFETY <br />Minutes of Meeting <br />July 21, 2003 <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting was convened at 4:40 p.m. in the Police Department 4th Floor <br />Conference Room, 60 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, California. <br /> <br />ATTENDANCE <br />Councilmembers present were: Mayor Pro Tem Brett Franklin, Councilmembers <br />Alberta Christy, Claudia Alvarez (Absent). <br /> <br />Staff present: City Manager Dave Ream; Assistant City Attorney Paula Coleman; <br />Police Chief Paul Walters; Fire Chief Marc Martin; Fire Marshal Lori Smith; <br />Police Lieutenants Phil Archer and Collie Provence, PRCS Director Gerardo <br />Mouet, Corporal Todd O'Conner and Officer Ron Anzai. <br /> <br />SUMMARY OF DISCUSSIONS <br /> <br />\"., <br /> <br />1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />The Minutes of the June 16,2003 meeting were approved. <br /> <br />2. FIREWORKS UPDATE <br /> <br />Chief Martin gave an overall fireworks update. He said there were <br />problems with a few fireworks stand operators that did not comply with <br />regulations. Both Councilmembers suggested that fewer stands should be <br />allowed and stricter rules placed on them. The Police Department also <br />seized Illegal fireworks. <br /> <br />3. ADULT ENTERTAINMENT ORDINANCE REVIEW <br /> <br />Collie Provence and Paula Coleman reviewed the current Adult <br />Entertainment Ordinance that helps to control the number of bars opening <br />in the City. No new ones have opened since 1998. After reviewing the <br />Ordinance, they felt that there is nothing that could be changed at this <br />time. <br /> <br />.... <br />
