<br />~ <br /> <br />SANTA ANA CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE <br />PUBLIC SAFETY <br />Minutes of Meeting <br />September 15,2003 <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Due to a lack of quorum, an information-only meeting was held in the Police <br />Department 4th Floor Conference Room, 60 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, <br />California. <br /> <br />ATTENDANCE <br />Committee Members: Mayor Pro Tem Brett Franklin (Absent); Councilmembers <br />Alberta Christy and Claudia Alvarez (Absent). <br /> <br />Staff present: City Manager Dave Ream, Assistant City Attorney Paula Coleman; <br />Police Captain Bruce Carlson; Police Captain George Saadeh, Acting Fire Chief <br />Ray Comeau; Fire Marshal Lori Smith; PRCS Assistant Director Gerardo Mouet; <br />Parks Superintendent Mike Lopez and Park Ranger Rodriguez. <br /> <br />~ Public present: Jim Walker, Richard Roehm and Sophia Aguirre. <br /> <br />SUMMARY OF DISCUSSIONS <br />1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes of the August 18, 2003 meeting was delayed until the <br />next scheduled meeting. <br /> <br />2. FIREWORKS BOOTH ELIGIBILITY DISCUSSION <br /> <br />For information purposes only, Richard Roehm, Orange County Deaf <br />Advocacy Group, through interpreter Sophia Aguirre, described his <br />agency and the services it provides. He related that he understands the <br />requirements for fireworks booths and their eligibility and would like the <br />Committee to take under consideration the organization's benefit to the <br />community. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />POTENTIAL FIREWORKS ORDINANCE CHANGES <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />It was suggested by the City Manager that this item be reagendized for the <br />next Public Safety meeting. <br />
