<br />'-' <br /> <br />SANTA ANA CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE <br />PUBLIC SAFETY <br />Minutes of Meeting <br />November 17, 2003 <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting was convened at 4:35 p.m. in the Police Department 4th Floor <br />Conference Room, 60 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, California. <br /> <br />ATTENDANCE <br />Councilmembers present: Mayor Pro Tem Brett Franklin, Councilmembers <br />Alberta Christy, Claudia Alvarez (Absent). <br /> <br />Staff present: City Manager David Ream, Assistant City Attorney Paula Coleman; <br />Police Chief Paul Walters; Fire Chief Phil Garcia; Executive Director Rip Ribble, <br />Police Captain George Saadeh, Police Lieutenants Tony Levatino and Mike <br />Foote, Park Superintendent Mike Lopez, Park Rangers Randy Eldridge and Ernie <br />Rodriguez. <br /> <br />'-' <br /> <br />SUMMARY OF DISCUSSIONS <br /> <br />1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />The Minutes of the August 18, 2003 meeting and Informational meeting of <br />September 15, 2003 were approved. <br /> <br />2. PARK RANGER REPORT ON SANTIAGO PARK ENFORCEMENT <br /> <br />Rip Ribble, Mike Lopez and the Park Rangers reviewed what <br />improvements and programs have been implemented in Santiago Park. A <br />park ranger assigned full-time in the park along with the Police <br />Department's Santiago Park Task Force have made an immediate impact <br />on criminal activity in the park. It was suggested by Committee Member <br />Christy that more information should be linked to positive activities on the <br />web site. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />PARKING CITATION AUTOMATION <br /> <br />\.,.... <br /> <br />Tony Levatino related that a contract renewal would be coming up in the <br />near future and reviewed information on a new company that could handle <br />the administration of the parking citations with a collection rate to 75 <br />percent. <br />
