<br />~ <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE ON <br />NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENT/CODE ENFORCEMENT <br />Special Meeting Minutes <br />October 23, 2003 <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />The meeting convened at 6:18 p.m. in Room 831 of City Hall. <br /> <br />ATTENDANCE <br /> <br />The following Councilmembers were present: Lisa Bist and Alberta Christy <br /> <br />Staff present were: Kenneth Adams, Assistant Director/Planning & Building Agency; and Bruce <br />Dunams; Community Preservation Manager. <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEMS <br />1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES - JUNE 24, 2003 MEETING & AUGUST 26, 2003 <br />CANCELLATION <br /> <br />Approved by a vote of 2:0 <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />PRESALE INSPECTION PROGRAM <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />A public presentation was presented by Tim Rush supporting the consideration of a <br />presale inspection program. Mr. Rush provided the committee with the background on <br />the previous consideration for the presale inspection program, which was put together <br />approximately eight to ten years ago. His recommendation to the committee was that <br />the program be re-evaluated for reconsideration at this time. <br /> <br />Kenneth Adams briefed the committee on the previous history of the program noting <br />there was strong opposition from the East Orange County Board of Realtors against <br />such a program. It was the opposition by the real estate industry that caused the <br />previous efforts to consider a presale inspection program to be tabled. <br /> <br />Council members Bist & Christy suggested to Mr. Rush that he query Com Link to see <br />whether or not there was any interest at the neighborhood association level to pursue <br />the program. Mr. Rush agreed to do so before asking the council and staff to expend <br />any work effort to revise the program. <br /> <br />3. PUBLIC COMMENTS - None <br />4.
