Approximately $720,000 is to be allocated this year in Southern
California through the program. Applications are due on May 1, 2006.
The Grasslands exhibit area, also known as the "Tierra de las Pampas"
project, will develop two new multi-species exhibit areas. Improvements
include site preparation, construction of animal holding areas and
observation points, and installation of interpretive graphics. This
project will provide an enhanced exhibit area for the rheas and guanacos
currently housed at the Zoo, and add a new anteater exhibit. The LWCF
Grant Fund requires a 50 percent match of non-federal money. Matching funds
will be available through partnerships with the Friends of the Santa Ana
Zoo and the Santa Ana Chapter of the University of California, Irvine
Alumni Association.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact associated with this action.
~7~C<- L~-r~^
Gerardo Mouet, Ex cutive Director
Parks, Rec. and C mm.
