• Exterior siding for additions should match the existing siding of residence in finish and <br />design. <br />• New construction should have exterior finishes that are compatible with the existing <br />architectural styles of the neighborhood. <br />• Paint color should be appropriate to the architectural style of the residence and district. <br />The following methods are not recommended when repairing or replacing wood siding and <br />shingles: <br />• Replacing wood siding with wood of a different size or shape. <br />• Removal and replacement of wood siding with aluminum, vinyl, asphalt shingle, masonite or <br />(concrete) siding. <br />• Replacing wood siding with stucco. <br />• Coatings (texture coat) applied over original siding. <br />• Use of mismatched shingles and shades or other materials for patching. <br />• Installing shingle without inserting it under the shingle above. <br />• Use of non-galvanized nails, which may rust. <br />• Sandblasting siding to remove exterior paint or dirt. <br />• Use of heat paint removers improperly or carelessly. <br />31 <br />75C-144 <br />Sidinp with Stone Siding with Stucco <br />
