Provide counseling and training to help parents cope so they can better motivate <br />and encourage their child. <br />3. Ijeip blind babies and toddlers make a successful transition from the Infa!:1J Family <br />Focus program into the Early Childhood Center. <br />Task/Action: <br />A Assess each infant to determine if he or she is medically and developmentally <br />ready to make the transition on an individual basis. <br />B. Develop a plan for a successful transition with each child's classroom teacher <br />including making a home visit to meet with the family and child prior to making <br />the transition. <br />C. Have the Infan"t Development Specialist make a series of three visits to each <br />child's classroom to facilitate a smooth transition. <br />D. Invite the parents to accompany their child to school for the first few d.ays. <br /> <br />Goal #3 Encourage families to actively participate in their child's development and education. <br />Objectives: <br />1. Encourage both parents to participate in their child's IEP (individual education plan). <br />Task/Action: <br />A Inform parents of process of the IEP. <br />B. Offer flexible meeting times. <br />C. Educate families on importance of two-parent participation. <br />2. Have 75% of parents attend parenting classes to leam more about their child's <br />disability, and how they can be a major force in their child's development. <br />Task/Action: <br />A. Require parents of children attending the preschool attend a seven week <br />parenting class. <br />B. Offer the parenting class twice a year in English and in Spanish. <br />C.
