Also describe the specific actions and tasks that would be <br />performed on a day-to-day basis to achieve these goals. ' <br /> <br />CAREER BEGINNINGS OF ORANGE COUNTY <br /> <br />Program Goal: To assist students from low/moderate income families in Santa Ana to complete <br />high school, enroll in college and continue preparation for a profession that fulfills their potential. <br /> <br />Target Population <br />High school seniors from low/moderate income homes with C or B- average in school. These students <br />come from primarily Hispanic families where often time's parents have not completed high school nor <br />attended college. The students are driven to succeed but need a helping hand. <br /> <br />Primarv Objectives <br /> <br />c <br /> <br />I) To recruit 100 high school seniors in the ten-month program which begins in September and ends <br />in June after high school graduation. <br />Task! Action <br />(A) interview interested juniors and seniors in March- August, 2002 <br />(B) Get recommendations from teachers, counselors <br /> <br />2) To recruit and train 90 professional men and women to serve as mentors to the students. <br />Task! Action <br />(A) Make recruitment presentations to local businesses <br />(B) Send letters to all service clubs, Hispanic Chamber & Chamber of Commerce in Santa Ana <br />(C) Send 100+ letter to previous mentors <br />(D) Conduct mandatory mentor training sessions from March 2002 - October 2002 <br />(E) Conduct background checks on all mentors through SAUSD Police Services <br />(F) Review resumes and match to student's interest in June / August, 2002 <br /> <br />3) To hold 10 monthly dinner meetings (Mentor Nights) for students and mentors to educate students <br />concerning career and training opportunities, and to encourage networking between various <br />students and mentors. At least one of these meetings will be held at a local college or university. <br />(10 meetings X 3 hours X 100 students = 3,000 training hours). <br />Task!
