~

'.I

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES!
IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGY

The primary goal of the Cultural Center Music Program is to serve low-
income, at-risk children from disadvantaged families who have limited or no
opportunities to receive music education and instruction due to limited family
budgets, geographic location, lack of facilities, and/or language barriers;
particularly those children whose parents are mono-lingual (Spanish) or who
do not have the means to travel to distant locations.

The objectives of the program are three-fold:

1) To enroll 30 students who are residents of Santa Ana. Students
will be actively recruited through the local media, presentations
at elementary and middle schools, and referrals from educators;

2) To provide sixteen hours of instruction each month at the
Mexican Cultural Center in Santa Ana;

3) To provide students with the ability to read music and perform
traditional Mexican pieces after 12 months of music instruction.

The program will involve the parents in assisting their children with practice
and assignments. Staff and director will locate venues and opportunities for
the groups to perform at local events.

EXHIBIT A
