<br />KO- 4/10/06 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2006-023 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA ADOPTING THE CITYWIDE DESIGN <br />GUIDELINES <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines <br />and declares as follows: <br /> <br />A. The Citywide Design Guidelines are a set of architectural and design <br />principles that are intended to provide guidance and suggestions to business <br />owners, homeowners, developers, City staff and the design community <br />regarding the development and rehabilitation of property. Since the last <br />formal update to the City's Design Guidelines in 1984, changes in <br />development trends in the City and the desire to offer progressive design <br />solutions has resulted in the need for an updated and comprehensive <br />document. <br /> <br />B. On November 3, 2005, the Historic Resources Commission unanimously <br />voted to recommend that the City Council approve the Citywide Design <br />Guidelines. <br /> <br />C. On November 14, 2005, the Planning Commission unanimously voted to <br />recommend that the City Council approve the Citywide Design Guidelines. <br /> <br />D. On April 17, 2006 the City Council held a duly noticed public hearing <br />regarding the approval of the Citywide Architectural Design Guidelines. <br /> <br />E. The primary objectives of the Citywide Design Guidelines are: <br /> <br />1. To update existing Design Guidelines to reflect changes in local <br />development trends and to offer the City progressive design <br />solutions. <br /> <br />2. To maximize the freedom, creativity and innovation of architectural <br />and landscape design within the City. <br /> <br />3. To promote a visually attractive, safe and well-planned community <br />through the incorporation of sound design principles. <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2006-023 <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />
