Directly or indirectly disturb or destroy a unique <br />pa1eontogical resource or site? <br /> <br />Less than Significant Impact <br /> <br />According to the Updated General Plan Land Use Element EIR, <br />there are no known cultural resources on the project site. <br />Additionally, the project site is located within an urbanized <br />area and chance for the discovery of unknown cultural resources <br />would be low. <br /> <br />VI. GEOLOGY/SOILS <br /> <br />A-l. Rupture of a known earthquake fault, as delineated on the <br />most recent Alquist-Priolo Earthquake Fault Zoning Map <br />issued by the State geologist for the area or based on <br />other substantial evidence of a known fault? <br /> <br />Less Than Significant <br /> <br />The Seismic Hazards Mapping Act of 1991 established a statewide <br />seismic hazard mapping and technical advisory program to assist <br />cities and counties in protecting the public health and safety <br />from the effects of strong ground shaking, liquefaction, and <br />other seismic hazards caused by earthquakes. Additionally, the <br />Alquist-Priolo Act directs the State Geologist to delineate <br />regulatory zones that encompass surface traces of active faults <br />that have the potential for future surface fault rupture. <br /> <br />The Tustin, California Quadrangle Official Map of Seismic Hazard <br />Zones dated January 17, 2001 was reviewed to evaluate potential <br />seismic impacts on the proj ect site. According to the Seismic <br />Hazard Zone Map, the project site is not located within a <br />designated Fault-Rupture Hazard Zone. Additionally, the surface <br />traces of any active or potentially active faults are not known <br />to pass directly through or extend towards the proj ect site. <br />Therefore, the potential for surface rupture due to faulting <br />occurring beneath the project site during the design life of the <br />proposed project is considered low. <br /> <br />11 <br /> <br />3~A-~5 <br />
