Councilmember McGuigan reported that recycling activity at 3320 W. First Street was <br />intruding into the adjacent residential neighborhood and requested staff review the City' s <br />recycling ordinance with respect to siting recycling facilities. <br /> <br />Councilmember Richardson requested that the Recreation Needs Assessment Report and <br />gymnasium needs be scheduled for consideration at future meetings of the City/School <br />Liaison Committee. <br /> <br />Councilmember Richardson requested that the Council meeting be adjourned in honor of <br />Barbara Houghton, a long term Santa Ana resident and community activist, who had assisted <br />greatly with the relocation of the Harmon-McNeil House to its present location in French <br />Park. <br /> <br />Mayor Young congratulated Mayor Pro Tem Pulido on his recent marriage. <br /> <br />Mayor Young reported he was privileged to be present for the presentation of a gift of $1 <br />million dollars from the Leo Freedman Foundation to the Bowers Museum; noted that the <br />Museum would be reopening in October, 1992 after a major reconstruction; and urged <br />residents to attend the opening of the Museum. He also reported the design contracts for the <br />Federal Court Project were out to bid, and that construction on "Planet Hollywood," a new <br />restaurant in the City, was proceeding at an incredible pace to achieve its goal of opening on <br />October l, 1992. <br /> <br />RECESSED TO CLOSED SESSION - ROOM 147 - 8:42 P.M. <br /> <br />The Clerk of the Council announced that the City Council was recessing to Closed Session <br />pursuant to: <br /> <br />Government Code Section 54956.9(a) to confer with the City Attorney regarding <br />pending litigation which had been initiated formally into which the City was a <br />party to wit: <br /> <br />Romero vs. City of Santa Ana et al <br />Barrett vs. City of Santa Ana (Worker's Compensation) <br />Caballero vs. City of Santa Ana (Worker's Compensation) <br />Graves vs. City of Santa Ana <br />Fernandez vs. City of Santa Ana <br /> <br />Government Code Section 54956.9(b)(1) regarding pending litigation of <br />significant exposure. <br /> <br />RECONVENED - COUNCIL CHAMBERS - 8:55 P.M. - All Councilmembers present <br />except Mayor Pro Tem Palido. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 222 JULY 6, 1992 <br /> <br /> <br />
