Also describe the specific actions and tasks that v.ould be <br />performed on a day-to-day basis to achieve these goals. ~ - <br />.(( '-{DO S,4tJIA ~A "R.eSl0E:N"rj <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />See Appendix A for examples. <br /> <br />Goal: To help low income women and their families to resolve the problems they are experiencing, so <br />they can go on to lead happy, healthy, productive lives. <br />Objective: To provide counseling, parenting classes, support groups and life skills education to 400 <br />Santa Ana women and their families in the course of one year. <br />The length of services ranges from one week in a crisis situation of I - 3 hours to 2 - 26 weeks <br />for long-term counseling. Services include individuaL couples, family and group counseling. Clients <br />may also participate in any of the life-skills education seminars or parenting classes along with their <br />counseling. Services are provided by 20 - 25 supervised interns from area universities including CSU- <br />Fullerton, Chapman, Azusa Pacific, National and Pepperdine. Interns provide 20 hours/week of <br />counseling services; they have one hour of individual supervision and two hours of group supervision <br />per week, and they receive two hours of additional training per month. <br />Task/Action: <br />(A) To inform key referral sources of the availability of counseling, parenting classes, support groups <br />and life-skills education workshops for low income women and families; examples of referral sources <br />include Santa Ana Police Department, St. Joseph's Hospital, OC Department of Social Services social <br />workers, courts, OC Probation Department, OC Health Care Agency, schools and other agencies. <br />(8) To train professional counseling staff in strategies to work with low income Orange women and <br />families most effectively, through individual and group supervision provided weekly. <br />(C) To conduct an intake on the Santa Ana client women and families who caIIs for services. <br />(D) To open a case file on each client family and record progress toward counseling goals; each client <br />family will participate in 2 - 26 hours of individual, couples, family or group counseling, 8 weeks of <br />parenting classes, and/or on-going support groups and/or 2 - 24 hours of life education workshops. <br />(E) To establish a counseling plan for each client family, offering them a combination of therapeutic <br />services which best meets their psychological needs; the counseling plan is evaluated periodically by <br />the counselor and hislher supervisor to be sure that it is meeting the needs of the client family. <br />(F) To maintain the case file on the client family as a means to evaluate the progress the family is <br />making toward therapeutic goals. <br />(0) Some combination of the following services will be provided to each client family: <br />. individual, couples, family or group counseling - from 2 - 26 weeks, longer if needed <br />. parenting classes - lasts for 8 weeks <br />. support groups and 12-Step groups - on-going for as long as the client wants to attend <br />· life skills education workshops - generally last for I week, from 1 - 3 hours. <br />Outcome Objective: As a resuh of program services, 75% of the families will experience improved <br />family functioning at the completion of their counseling program. <br /> <br />1 af 1fT- <br /> <br />EJ'(fflB(1 A <br />
