<br />"-" <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />VI. <br /> <br />GOALS AND OBJECTIVESI <br />IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGY <br /> <br />In the space below, please list the primary goals and objectives for your program. Provide <br />projected numbers of Santa Ana residents to be served, and the kinds of services they <br />would receive if your program is funded. Also describe the specific actions and tasks that <br />would be performed on a day-to-day basis to achieve these goals. <br /> <br />See Appendix A for examples. <br /> <br />Y, ... <br /> <br />The local community has a need for programs to steer teenagers towards productive goals and <br />lives. This program would supply the life tools and career skills to assist young people in reaching their <br />goals. The Tech Camp would introduce 10 high school students, of mid to low income, to the inner- <br />workings of a theater and train them in the technical skills involved in theater production. The program is <br />open to all students regardless of race, color, creed or sex. With one camp offered per year, RGTC's <br />outreaches will extent to 10 students, their family members, friends and schools, and expand in coming <br />years. <br />The primary goal of the camp is to produce 10 qualified technical crewmembers, capable of running <br />the technical side of a production on their own. Obtaining this goal will further a second goal of the camp; to <br />instill a sense of self-respect and confidence among its participants. <br />Members of Rude Guerrilla Theater Company will use their expertise to train the students. They <br />possess professional competencies in stage-managing, set design and construction, lighting design, sound <br />design, makeup, costumes and theater management. The primary trainers will be: <br />Dave Barton: producer/director/theater management, Don Hess: set design & construction, <br />Michelle Fontenot: theater management, Andrew Nienaber: director/stage manager, <br />Jennifer Cook: stage manager/props & costumes, Rene Gallo: lighting design, David Gallo: <br />sound design and Susan Shearer: training design professional <br />High school students (9th - 12th grade) will spend four consecutive Saturdays, for four hours at a time <br />(including breaks and lunch), studying lighting and sound design, set construction and stage management. <br />The classroom training is followed with, two (2) weeks of fabrication and four (4) weekends of production <br />run, using job skills and expertise learned in class <br /> <br />Curriculum: <br />o Introduction to Theater <br />o Working with the Director and Actors <br />o Basic Tools <br />o Set Design & Construction <br />o Lighting Design <br />o Sound Design <br />o Props & Costumes <br />o Stage Management <br />o Tech Production: Hands-On <br />o Resume Building <br />o Critique: Production as a whole and individual participants <br /> <br />Work and study will be personalized to benefit the teenager's special needs, interests and skills. <br />People skilled in the profession will tutor the young people in a nurturing, supportive environment. A critique <br />of performance of both individuals and team will be conducted at the close of the production <br />By training young people, they develop both self-confidence and job skills; learn responsibility, as <br />well as an appreciation of the arts.
