NO.06-061) <br /> <br /> <br />~(2 <br /> <br />IT MANAGER <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />D As Recommended <br />D As Amended <br />D Ordinance on 1" Reading <br />D Ordinance on 2"d Reading <br />D Implementing Resolution <br />D Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Award a contract to En Pointe Technologies, Inc. for computer software and <br />licensing in the amount not to exceed $410,000. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The City purchases various computer licensing products using the Select 6 <br />Agreement between the State of California and Microsoft. Through this <br />program, Microsoft has provided a quantity discount on its products if <br />purchased through one of its authorized Large Account Resellers (LAR). En <br />pointe Technologies, Inc. is an authorized LAR through the Select 6 program <br />and currently has an agreement with the City to allow purchases of computer <br />software under the Select 6 program. The licensing products are necessary <br />for the City to fully utilize available Microsoft technology. <br /> <br />The City requests the purchase of licensing for 20 copies of Microsoft SQL <br />Server Standard Edition, four copies of Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise <br />Edition and 1,954 Microsoft SQL Client Access Licenses (CAL' s). The first <br />two items are data base server software for applications operating in the <br />City and Police data centers. The CAL's are licensing to enable networked <br />City computer end users to access Microsoft SQL data base applications. All <br />three items include "software assurance" which is a form of <br />support/maintenance. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br /> <br />Funds are available in the Technology Plan Miscellaneous Citywide Projects <br />Computer Software account (account no. 109-600-6661). <br />\ <br /> <br />"'t\\~ 'l{\.C"~ ~!"
