<br />Lss05/09/06 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2006- <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA TO AUTHORIZING AN APPLICATION FOR <br />"PRESERVE AMERICA" GRANT FUNDS TO FUND <br />HISTORIC PRESERVATION PROJECTS WITHIN THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines <br />and declares as follows: <br /> <br />A. Preserve America is a White House initiative developed in cooperation <br />with the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, the U.S. Department of <br />the Interior, and other Federal agencies with the goals of providing a <br />greater shared knowledge about our Nation's past, strengthening regional <br />identities and local pride, increasing local participation in preserving our <br />country's irreplaceable cultural and natural heritage assets and supporting <br />the economic vitality of communities; and <br /> <br />B. The National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior, has been <br />delegated the responsibility for the administration of the Grant Program, <br />setting up necessary procedures; and <br /> <br />C. Said procedures require that the City Council certify by resolution, its <br />support of an application for grant funds. <br /> <br />Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana supports the submission <br />of an application for Preserve America grant funds in the amount of $150,000.00, to <br />implement projects intended to protect and celebrate the City's heritage, use the City's <br />historic assets for economic development and community revitalization, and encourage <br />people to experience and appreciate local historic resources through education and <br />heritage tourism programs. <br /> <br />Section 3. The City Council certifies that the City will match funds awarded <br />through the Preserve America grant program. <br /> <br />Section 4. The City Council appoints the City Manager, or his designee, as <br />agent for the City of Santa Ana to conduct all negotiations, execute and submit all <br />documents, including but not limited to applications, agreements, amendments and <br />payment requests which may be necessary for the completion of the aforementioned <br />projects. <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2006- <br />Page 1 of2 <br /> <br />558-3 <br />
