CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE ON <br />PARK DEVELOPMENT, RECREATION PROGRAMS <br />AND EDUCATION PARTNERSHIPS <br />MINUTES <br />February 7, 2006 <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting convened at 5:55 p.m. in the City Hall, Room 831, 20 Civic Center Plaza, <br />Santa Ana, California <br />ATTENDANCE <br />The following Councilmembers were present: Claudia Alvarez, Mike Garcia and Jose <br />Solorio. <br />Staff present were: Gerardo Mouet, Executive Director Parks, Recreation and <br />Community Services; Ben Kaufman, Chief Assistant City Attorney; Ron Ono, <br />Administrative Services Manager; Mike Lopez, Park Superintendent and Lorraine <br />Lazarine McCarty, Community Affairs Manager. <br />AGENDA ITEMS <br />1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />Action Item: Minutes of November 29, 2005 approved as submitted. <br />2. MOTHER' DAY CELEBRATION <br />Staff presented the schedule and entertainment for the Mother's Day Celebration <br />that will be held at the Santa Ana Stadium on May 13, 2006 @ 5:OOpm. The <br />program will feature Little Joe Y La Familia, one of the most popular Tex-Mex <br />bands in the music industry. General admission will be $10 per person. A table for <br />8 people, which will include buffet dinner, will cost $500. The event will include a <br />dance floor that will be installed on the field. <br />3. SANTA ANA RIVER TASK FORCE UPDATE <br />Staff reported that the Santa Ana River Task Force went on a field trip on January <br />28tH to visit various sites along the river that could provide design ideas to enhance <br />the environmental and recreational opportunities of some of the open space <br />elements along the river. The areas visited included Katella Ave. to Glassell <br />(Rubber Dam), Yorba Regional Park, Cedar Grove Park, Hicks/Peter Canyon Trails <br />& Bikeways, Talbert Park, Fairview Park and Moon Park. A draft report is being <br />assembled and the Task Force will be considering the adoption of the Vision <br />Statement and the Goals, Policies and Implementations at their next meeting, <br />scheduled for Tuesday, February 14th; 3:OOpm at the Santa Ana Police Department <br />Community Room. <br />13B-1 <br />
