NO./~-047) ^ As Recommended ^ As Amended ^ Ordinance on 1s` Reading ^ Ordinance on 2n° Reading ^ Implementing Resolution ^ Set Public Hearing For CONTINUED TO FILE NUMBER RECOMMENDED ACTION Award a contract to Digital Electronic Services, Inc. to upgrade the motor control center at the Garthe Pumping Station in the amount of $133,819. DISCUSSION The Public Works Agency's Water Resources Division uses a variable frequency drive to regulate the quantity of water pumped from most of the City's wells and pump stations. Currently, the Garthe pump station does not use a variable frequency drive. Installation of two variable frequency drives at the Garthe pump station will allow the pumps to start smoothly, use less energy and will reduce pressure surging into the water lines. In addition, once the variable frequency drives are installed, the City will qualify for an energy saving rebate of approximately $32,000. The notice inviting bids was advertised on March 17 and 20, 2006, and bids were solicited. Bid results are as follows: Vendor: Digital Electronic Services, Inc Leed Electric, Inc. Amount: Location: $ 121,653.20 Upland $ 131,882.00 Norwalk The bid received from Digital Electronic Services, Inc. is responsive to the specification.
