REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />May 15, 2006 <br />TITLE: <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />AGREENENT FOR ENERGY PREVENTIVE <br />MAINTENANCE OF FIRE ALARM <br />SYSTEMS WITH SIMPLEX GRINNELL <br />C~ `~" <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 15' Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2"d Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and the <br />Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with Simplex Grinnell for <br />maintenance of fire alarms for a one-year term, with an option for a one- <br />year renewal, exercisable by the City Manager or his designee, in an annual <br />amount not to exceed $27,350. <br />DISCUSSION <br />Multiple facilities are equipped with fire alarm systems for the protection <br />of people and property. Inspection, preventative maintenance and repair <br />services are necessary to the operation of the system. The alarm system is <br />tested regularly in accordance with the State of California Fire Marshall <br />regulation and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) rules. <br />After a formal bidding process, the City Council approved an agreement with <br />Simplex Grinnell for maintenance and services of the City's fire alarm <br />systems on November 15, 2004.
