'/1C~RK or COUNCIL <br /> <br />OP-.iE: t('" /?- '" ,.oo~ : (;"./ <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING <br />BETWEEN THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AND <br />SA NT A ANA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT <br />FOR THE PERIOD OF JULY 1, 2000 TO JUNE 30, 2001 <br /> <br />A-2000-1 46 <br /> <br />'-' <br /> <br />Whereas the Santa Ana Unified School District (hereinafter "District") and the <br />City of Santa Ana (hereinafter "City") have provided school students with instruction on <br />the hazards of drug abuse through the Drug Awareness Resistance Education (DARE) <br />Program, and such training has been shown to be effective in reducing the likelihood of <br />drug experimentation and dependence. <br /> <br />Whereas the District and the City which to continue DARE instruction in schools; <br /> <br />Now, therefore, in consideration of the mutual promises of the parties herein, the District <br />and the City agree as follows: <br /> <br />1. The City and the District agree to enter into the Memorandum of Understanding <br />(hereinafter "MOU"). <br /> <br />2. This MOU will cover the period from July 1,2000 to June 30, 2001, and shall be <br />renewable on an annual basis thereafter. <br /> <br />3. The District will pay the City an amount of $28,000 for the period of July 1, 2000 <br />to June 30, 2001, as partial compensation for four qualified civilian DARE <br />instructors employed by the Santa Ana Police Department. Payment shall be <br />made to the City, by cost reimbursement, within 30 days ofthe receipt of an <br />invoice from the City. Payment beyond June 30, 2001 will be mutually agreed <br />upon annually and paid, by cost reimbursement, within 30 calendar days of the. <br />receipt of an invoice from the City to be submitted no more frequently than <br />monthly. The City will contribute the remainder of the $265,520 for DARE <br />instructors. <br />
